Piccante Pizza Restaurant

Easton, Bristol

Located within a busy supermarket, Piccante transforms a compact takeaway-focused space into a place with immediate presence and character. The design foregrounds the cooking process: an exposed wood-fired pizza oven, clad in deep red tiles and sculpted as a flame rising to the ceiling, anchors the interior and gives the restaurant its identity.

Despite limited seating, the open kitchen and bold focal elements create a spatial hierarchy that guides movement, engages visitors, and makes the act of cooking the defining feature of the experience. The oven’s visibility ensures the restaurant stands out both inside the supermarket and from the street, turning a functional constraint into a design opportunity.
